Great Sand Dunes & Conifer, CO

After the KOA in Alamosa we visited the Great Sand Dunes national monument. It is about a half hour drive from the Alamosa. The only other time I was here was in July 2004 when Colin, Julian and I climbed Blanca Peak.

As you can see there is a dog friendly section. All had a good time. We watched folks sliding down the steeper parts. Apparently some have boards similar to snow boards. Others just use big pieces of cardboard.

We had lunch in Salida at the Ploughboy, which was very organic and good. Around 3:30 we arrived in Conifer, CO where Cathie had reserved a cabin in the Conifer Community Park. Not too fancy but worked well for all of us. The dogs enjoyed Bark Park which they had to themselves.
