Near Sumpter, OR

We had planned to reach Andy and Sarah Steele’s place in La Grande, OR by Sunday, but it just seemed too far. Instead we stopped in Sumpter to get beer and oatmeal. These were for different times of the day. Sumpter is near, but not in a national forest, so we drove back a few miles to find what we could find. We did rather well, ending up on a road that had not been used for at least a season. I used four-wheel drive and needed Cathie’s help turning around in a rather narrow hillside section. In the end we got a great campsite where the dogs could run relatively free. I say relatively, because Cap seemed to be the most obedient. He had a great time teasing Meg and Reg when they were tied up and he wasn’t. Anthropomorphizing, I would say he was being mean, but it was funny to watch.
