Kerry arrived!

Kerry pulled into the Oak Point Road driveway around 3:30 pm on Friday. She had flown to Portland from DC and then rented a car for the 3+ hour drive to get to our place. It was great to see her and Maine was good enough to provide sun. The tree colors are still impressive so that is a bonus for all of us.

On Saturday the 17th we drove to Great Wass Island (see Far East Map). It is not far from our place. We told Richard where we were going and he asked us to look at a stone sculpture he created behind a house on the island. It was not hard to find and was very near to where we intended to have our picnic and take a hike. We parked the truck at the end of Backfield Road, walked along the beach, and then walked up to the stones.

No trails were marked but we managed to find something that allowed us to get to sunny shore rocks where we had out picnic lunch. Sun was important because it was cool and the wind was stiff.

After lunch we found two more trails, War Harbor and Loop. Neither seemed much used as of late, but trekking through the woods was pleasant and warmer than next to the water.

In the morning, before our Great Wass outing, Cathie and Kerry drove to our local fish market and picked up five lobsters. These were put in our cooler along with ice so they would still be there for dinner. that evening Cathie cooked them up and we each had one, with the other two slated for lobster salad. Lobster is very good.

The picture of sunlight streaming through the trees is beautiful. Amazing to see the light in its rainbow colors coming through so clearly. Looks like your meal was delicious
